Since I grew up in the U.S., my Chinese isn't great—I can barely read it. After talking with my course instructor Feng Shuai, we've decided to do one-on-one sessions entirely in English. If you need any further adjustments or assistance, feel free to let me know!

The first step I took in preparation for studying for the GRE was to take an GRE diagnostic test to gauge my strengths and weaknesses. From this diagnostic exam, I discovered that I was strong in reading comprehension, and weak in vocabulary and quantitative skills. With these in mind, I focused my efforts primarily on increasing my vocabulary and quantitative proficiency

For the quantitative portion, I relied on the resources provided by the KMF. During KMF's GRE tutoring session, I first took several evaluative GRE Quant mock tests, which I reviewed in details with my tutor Shuai Feng in class.

在数学部分，我主要依靠KMF辅导机构提供的资源和冯率老师的课程。在课前，我首先做了几次数学单科模考，然后在课上和冯率老师一起进行了分析诊断。

From there, we identified core weaknesses in my quantitative understanding. These ranged from refreshing my memory on algebra fundamentals, such as exponentials, radicals, probability, and absolute value, to GRE-specific tools like understanding comparison questions, which are common on the exam.

通过这些模考，我们找出了我在GRE数学的核心弱点。这些弱点包括复习代数基础知识，如指数、根号、概率和绝对值，以及GRE特有的解题套路，比如理解比较题，这在考试中很常见。

We focused on these weaknesses through targeted practice, while also continuing to take mock quant exams to broaden my experience with GRE questions. Some key takeaways include: test-taking strategies for efficiently answering estimation questions, using the 9 palaces method for complicated set questions, and techniques for solving work/rate questions. Since all of these question types are common on the GRE, I was able to apply these strategies when I took the real exam. This saved me time and allowed me to review my answers without feeling rushed.

In addition, I focused on doing a large quantity of KMF's mock exams. Then later, I would do more dedicated practice to train myself on specific types of problems I was getting incorrect.

Focusing on these problems gave me a two-fold benefit. One, I could increase my success inanswering these questions, which had a direct impact on my practice exam scores. And Two, I could learn tricks and time saving methods for common GRE question types.

After a month of studying for the quantitative portion, my results demonstrated that I had a solid grasp of the types of questions in the GRE, but I was still getting questions wrong either due toeither running out of time and rushing through the questions, or going over the question tooquickly and missing a simple part of the question.

经过一个月的数学部分的学习，我的最终成绩表明我对GRE考试题型的扎实掌握，但我仍然会因为时间不够而匆忙完成问题，或者因为追求速度而写错一些简单的题。

Based on my tutor Shuai Feng's suggestion, I shifted my strategy and tried to answer the questions in the following manner.

1.) Read the question and write notes.

2.) Highlight any key mistake areas

3.) Solve the question as normal

4.) Read the question one more time before marking my answer.

为了避免这种失误，我参考冯率老师的建议，采取了以下措施能有效解决：

（1）读问题并做笔记；

（2）标记题目中可能有坑的区域；

（3）带着平常心解题；

（4）在标记答案之前，再读一遍问题。

For me, steps 2 and 4 helped a good amount in alleviating mistakes due to not being thoroughin reading the question. For step 2, key mistake areas would be things like, “how old will johnny be four years from now”, “how many people are not part of the art club”. Step 4 acts like a final check to make sureI was answering the correct question.

对我来说，第2步和第4步在减少因为没有仔细阅读题目而犯的错误方面帮助很大。对于第2步，关键的错误区域包括类似“约翰尼四年后会多大”，“有多少人不是艺术俱乐部的成员”这样的问题。第4步就像是一个最终检查，确保我回答的是正确的问题。

Verbal学习心得

Here, my strategy was to commit to memorizing a high quantity of GRE vocabulary. I built a list from the KMF 3000 words. I took an initial sweep over words, and eliminated all of the words I immediately knew. This resulted in a list of 828 new vocabulary words I aimed to memorize.

对于词汇来说，我的策略是尽量多背单词。我使用的是考满分GRE3000词APP。我先把单词扫了一遍，然后删掉了所有我能够立刻认出的单词。这样我就有了一张828个新单词的清单，我主要去记这些单词。

I used KMF's flashcards mode to memorize the words. I used a term - definition flashcard set to begin memorizing the words. Initially, I focused ongaining more familiarity, and quickly went over the set once each day. As I began to memorize the terms, I eliminated them from the flash card set.After I reduced my vocab set to around 400 words, I created two additional different sets to helpincrease the efficacy of my practice.

我使用了GRE 3000词的Flashcards模式来背单词，我先用一套关于专业术语的单词卡开始记忆单词。一开始，我更专注于让自己熟悉这些单词，并且每天快速地复习一遍。当我记住这些专业术语词后，我就把它们从单词卡中删除。在我把这一套的词汇减少到大约400个单词之后，我又创建了另外两个不同的词汇集来帮助我提高我的背单词效率。

I actually used KMF's Collection of Sentence Equivalent PDF, as well as Generative AI (ChatGPT) to help me create these flashcards for term-synonym and term-definition. The benefit of the Term - Synonym set was that many of the words in my flashcard set had similar definitions, so I could start grouping words together. By the end of the time I spent studying, these flashcards gave me a pretty solid base of vocabulary for the GRE.

我会用考满分的六选二词对PDF，以及参考ChatGPT来帮我创建这些专业术语和同义词的词汇集，把同义词分组集合在一起。这些单词卡为我后续的学习创造了一个相当坚实的GRE词汇基础。

Lastly, a key focus area after increasing familiarity with the exam questions that worked well forme was identifying time saving methods. Every second saved mattered for the GRE, and onthe actual exam I was able to use my extra time to go back to a question I wasn’t sure aboutand do a more extended calculation.Your mileage may vary, but for the types of mistakes I was most prone to, these additions worked well. Last but not least, I wish everyone scores to their satisfaction!
